The Area

The area around Star Lake Retreat from Eagle River to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is a wonderful all-seasons destination. No matter what time of year you choose to visit, there's no shortage of the outdoor activities for which northern Wisconsin is famous.

Water Access

Perched on a ridge, surrounded by two acres of private woodlands and terraced lawns, the Retreat overlooks the natural beauty of Star Lake and the state forest. Below, a small, quiet beach is surrounded by grasslands, woods and shoreline protected by the state but accessible for our guests. There is a paved DNR boat launching facility with a large parking lot only a few minutes away. For those who like to fish from shore, grab your gear and take a walk down one of the nature trails to find the spot that's perfect for you.

Summer and Winter Fun!

Fishing, swimming beaches, boating, sailing, canoeing, water and snow tubing, biking and hundreds of miles of hiking and cross-country ski trails are all within easy reach. Downhill skiing in Michigan is about one hour away.
There is shopping and dining to experience nearby. For those that enjoy golfing, the area boosts several courses. If gambling is more your pace, take a chance at some of Upper Peninsula Michigan’s casinos.
